This edition of my newsletter will encourage you to explore the hidden, denied or diluted parts of yourself. When you’re not caught up in daily tasks or distracted by others, who are you?
If you can now, be with yourself in silence for a few minutes. What do you notice?
Perhaps like me, you might fear the emotions that come with it or you might think it is a waste of time when you have so much to do. But I have noticed that when I don’t create small gaps of time for reflection, rest, and creativity, then it has negative consequences including exhaustion, anxiety and self-neglect.
Grab some writing tools and respond to this:
Who are you in the stillness?
I invite you to be curious about what comes up. You might meet some resistance - I often do too.
This question can be used as a tool to guide you towards thinking about the changes that you want to make in your life. It will be the theme of my first online guided writing session for patrons on 18th January. More on that below - see Career Change Support Network.

In the latest episode of About The Adventure Podcast, Ali Foxon shares the story of how sketching has transformed her life, from working as a climate change advisor to becoming the founder of the green sketching movement and author of the Green Sketching Handbook.
She talks about the impact of this transformation on her wellbeing, her family life, and also on the people she works with through workshops. I think you'll particularly enjoy this episode if you're interested in exploring new ways to connect with nature, to slow down a little, and to take some time out for yourself. It will be hugely valuable to people sitting on the fence about taking the first steps towards a career change, and to anyone who thinks that sketching is just for artists.

Career Change Support Network
This year my focus will be on creating a support network for people who are curious about career change, going through it, or finding their feet afterwards.
Through patreon I am offering:
online writing sessions with question prompts
access to a private Facebook group to connect with the network
50% discount on in-person events in Edale, Peak District
20% discount on my 1-1 coaching sessions
The first online writing session (patrons only) will be on Wednesday 18th January 6pm-6:30pm. The first in-person event will be a sunrise walk in Edale on Friday 20th January. This is open to non-members as well, but it's cheaper as a patron.
The monthly cost as a patron is £5 per month, and you can cancel this at any time. Your contribution will support About The Adventure Podcast, and in return you get to join the Career Change Support Network.
Featured coaching session walk
Imagine walking together in the afternoon, into sunset and finishing by torchlight. Tree silhouettes, blackbirds calling at dusk, and if we’re lucky - a burnt orange sky. My coaching sessions aim to be an experience that combine open thinking, noticing nature, and experiencing the elements.
If you don’t have a torch, you can borrow one of mine. The walk can be adapted to the weather conditions and your personal preferences. We can walk in the valley, looking up to the hilltops. Or we can walk up the surrounding hills and look out to the far-reaching views.
I will guide the session, so you can just relax into it. Any questions? Please email me: sarah@sarahventurer.com
A few quick updates from me
Peak District National Trust recently featured a short video of me talking about why caring for Kinder Scout is important to me.
I’ve created a website for the Wild About Kinder podcast which is a resource for people to share Kinder Scout stories on a community blog.
An interview with photographer John Beatty is available on Wild About Kinder podcast, which can also be played on podcast apps.
Thank you for reading my newsletter. If you have a question to ask, something to share, or if you’d like to be a guest on my podcast or blog, please get in touch: sarah@sarahventurer.com
