If you want change, why are you staying where you are?
The newsletter that begins with a question
This newsletter starts with a question - because that’s what coaching is all about. Grab yourself a notepad and pen now, give yourself just a few minutes to explore this:
What’s the truth - why are you staying where you are?
If you can physically move into a different space to write, even better! Let’s see what comes up for you, and if you’d like to share your response confidentially with me then you’re very welcome to email me: sarah@sarahventurer.com
“From day one I almost knew it wasn’t quite right for me.”
In the latest episode of About The Adventure Podcast, Andy Darnton shares his story about leaving a career as a commercial lawyer.
He talks about the need for change, his concerns about what other people might think, how he started to explore alternative options, why Legal Tech appeals to him, and his experience of getting back into the mountains and becoming a Mountain Leader.

Have your say
What would you like to hear on future episodes of my podcast? I’d appreciate your views as I’m thinking about recording some new interviews with people who have unique jobs that they really enjoy and feel dedicated to. About The Adventure News
I’ve created a new page on my website that gives more detail about my coaching work and the variety of walks that I offer. Take a look.
What is life coaching? This is a new blog post written from my own personal perspective and understanding, relative to my own experience. I hope that this is a useful starting point for people who are curious about what life coaching is and how it can help.
If you’re interested in the geology of the dark peak area in the Peak District, have a listen to this interview with Gemma Scougal who is a geologist and hill and moorland leader. Available now on Wild About Kinder podcast. I’m working on making a website for the show, and new episodes too.
As part of my volunteer role with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), I’m co-leading a walk from Edale this month. We'll be visiting the Mind over Mountain's funded improvement works. More info and free registration here.
It’s a great time of year for sunset coaching sessions, starting from 6pm onwards. I have a spare torch if you need one. Get in touch if you’re interested.
Featured coaching session walk
There are a few keys things that I look for when planning these walks, and one of the most imporant is to find a quiet place to enjoy a brew with a view. It’s a great contrast to the energy of walking and talking. We take a few minutes to pause, notice the landscape and sky around us, and to let answers flow with ease.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this rock up on the eastern edge of Kinder Scout, the perfect cup holder! I enjoy sitting up high to get a fresh perspective on things - the landscape certainly inspires that.
I have spare flasks and cups, so I’m more than happy to prepare a drink for people during these coaching sessions. I also carry plenty of snacks - and there’s still some bilberries about. I found a feast growing in the peaty groughs on the day that I took this photo.
