Does it make you cringe? That was the top response on my Twitter poll last week. And I often get that feeling too when I see coaching adverts and content. I want to work towards changing the reputation and accessibility of coaching because in my experience it can be a very useful, life-changing tool. So, I turn to you to ask - what’s your impression of coaching? Does it seem cheesey, salesy, pricey, or something else? Is there anything about coaching that appeals to you, or puts you off? Please join the discussion to help me shape future content.
All the above! It seems to me there's either spiritual, joyful, ethereal-type coaching espousing self-love, or hard-nosed turbo charged business-y coaching espousing the benefits of growth and entrepreneurship. I've noticed a gender bias for each too (guess which way).
If you can tread a careful line that draws from the best of both these worlds, and is a thing in it's own right, you're onto a winner in my opinion. There's deffo a space for down to earth, straight-talking, inquisitive and pragmatic coaching.
Yes there seems to be these two main strands and not much in between. The thing that I've realised is that I don't fit into either of these and I don't want to, so I'm going my own way! Thank you for sharing your opinion Chris.
